Acorn User out now?

Posted by Phil Mellor on 12:28, 26/2/2004 | ,

After some initial teething troubles, the first issue of Acorn Publish... Qerc... ah yes - Acorn User - produced by Finnybank is on its way to subscribers. Their spokesman explained that "the additional printing numbers and distribution is new to us so we're not sure how long it will take to get to all subscribers or to be available in the shops."

Some readers may receive more than one copy because of difficulties arising while migrating the subscription database inherited from Tau Press. The editor, John Cartmell, asks that those receiving duplicates let Finnybank know, so that they can correct the problem, and suggests the extra magazines be given to others to read.

"You may guess that we have had a tough time getting this issue out! We think it will be worth the wait and the following issue is in line for publication after an interval of 3-4 weeks."

Indeed. The current issue (considered number 268 of Acorn User, or 10.1 of Publisher) includes reviews of the A6 and Web Wonder, and - as the this is the design oriented edition - plenty of tutorials and demonstrations, a history of old style typography, and the start of a new series called "Producing Panoramas".

Unregistered user Even though the first Quercus was a graphics issue, I liked what I saw, can't wait for the next issue.
