The Icon Bar: News and features: Orpheus saves ancient library

Orpheus saves ancient library

Posted by Andrew Poole on 16:56, 6/7/2005 | , , , ,

Paul working to preserve the libraryAs you probably know by now, Argonet is closing its doors for good very soon. One often overlooked service that Argonet provided was the FTP site, which contained a large amount of freebies to put on your computers. Unfortunately, this was turned off with the server that was unplugged by MCI/Worldcom earlier last week.

The good news is that Paul "Orpheus" Vigay has just sent word that he has saved the large library of software, and has placed it on the Orpheus servers, making it available via HTTP instead, and moving it to http://downloads.orpheusweb.co.uk/.

In other news, Paul's quest for world domination continues, with the Icon Bar's server being taken up to London to be placed in Orpheus' rackspace later this week. With a bit of luck, the current server will remain in place for a while to help with a smooth changeover.
