Star Fighter 3000+ Patch

Posted by Keith McKillop on 17:00, 23/9/2000 | ,

As promised, Chris Bazley has released version 2.00 of his patch for Star Fighter 3000. This new version includes all the features of the previous version, but most importantly it fixes all problems with StrongARM compatibility along the following:
  • The original RISC OS 4 fix was badly flawed, this too has now been properly fixed
  • The game can be patched with just the minimum necessary to run the game properly (no fancy improvements)
  • Removed unnecessary complications from the game loader code
  • New hi-res/256 colour icon sprites for the patch

Those who already have the original patch are strongly advised to download the new version, due to the flawed way in which the old version handles RISC OS 4.

Additionally, questions concerning future development of the game are to be addressed to Nathan Walker rather than the author himself so that he can get on with the development. However, Chris Bazley welcomes any discussion regarding the Star Fighter 3000 webpages, the game, or any of his freeware utilities.

Starfighter 3000 Patch v2.00 can be found at http://starfighter.acornarcade.com/. Note that you will also require the 'Comp' and 'Decomp' modules supplied within the Stunt Racer 2000 Designer, available from http://homepage.eircom.net/~djkoshea/.
