Acorn had a Java environment but I think it was only up to 1.1.2. It's also tricky to get hold of now.

The alternative is Kaffe - ported by Peter Naulls as part of the Unix Porting Project. You can get it from here: http://www.chocky.org/unix/downloads.html

I've no idea whether it will run Jigsaw, however.

Hi,

Many thanks, the current version of jigsaw probably wont run as i t needs 1.2, but an older version should run fine i guess.

Unlikely at the moment. The port has some "issues" at the moment, in particular with threading, which cause it to die horribly. I'm working on it when I get the chance, so it may work one day.

I would think kaffe in principle should handle Jigsaw, it's just the port that has problems.

Hi, any idea what happened to this? It's not on the chocky site anymore. Anyone still working on a JVM for RISC OS? If not it's the sort of thing I might consider doing - when I have more time, *MUCH*, *MUCH* more time smile

It used to be available on riscos.info. Perhaps a message to the gccsdk.riscos.info mailing list will illicit more informed response.

If you have the skills, you could of course try and help out with the Firefox port.
